Sandringham edged out Hobart 80-75 on Saturday at Southern Basketball Stadium in a hard-fought NBL1 contest that featured plenty of back-and-forth action.
The Sabres were led by a dominant interior presence from Lucy Cochrane, who recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while adding three blocks. Funda Nakkasoglu provided the offensive spark with 19 points, while Klara Wischer contributed her own double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Sandringham's balanced attack featured 17 assists compared to Hobart's nine and capitalized on their size advantage with 38 points in the paint.
Despite the loss, Chelsea D'Angelo kept Hobart competitive with a game-high 22 points, including three triples on four attempts from outside. Taylor Roberts added 20 points on efficient 7-of-16 shooting while Sharna Thompson chipped in 14 points, including a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe. The Chargers were strong from the foul line overall, converting 91.3 percent of their attempts.
