Returning Sharp

The Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce that Milly Sharp will be returning for the 2023 NBL1 South Season.

Sharp has played 19 games for the NBL1 Miners across two seasons whilst also playing Under 18s and Youth League Championship.

Still, 17 and heading into year 12 at Ballarat Grammar Sharp said “I have played all my junior basketball with Ballarat representative teams and I have represented Ballarat with pride as part of the Victorian State teams, and to complete the pathway to NBL1 is awesome.”

Ballarat Miners Women’s Head Coach Rob Baker is pleased to sign Sharp saying “Milly has come through the junior program and is entering her third season with the senior team. She has been constantly improving and developing and is ready to take the next step as an important role player for the NBL1 program.”

Baker added “Milly has had a consistent offseason, and is a regular in the gym, preparing herself for the U20 Victorian State team and a full season of NBL1 basketball. 

Sharp has been putting in the work in the off-season saying “Unfortunately, I missed a few games at the back end of last season due to injury so was keen to hit the gym, and really give myself an opportunity to be the fittest and strongest version of myself to play a variety of roles for the team.”

Ballarat Miners Elite Teams Committee Member Lynly Doherty said “Milly has excelled through not only our pathway but also the Basketball Victoria High-Performance Pathway as she continues to represent Ballarat on and off the court and we look forward to seeing what she can achieve in 2023.”

Sharp will take a small break from the Miners when she will compete with the Victorian team at the under-20Australian Junior Championships, which are being held in Geelong, February 14-19, 2023.

Sharp joins the signing of Abbey Wehrung, Millie Cracknell, Jemma Amoore and Annie Collins for the 2023 season with more players to be announced before the NBL1 South season starts on April 1^st, 2023. Memberships are now on sale via Miners Memberships
