Redbacks secure first import signing of 2021

The Perth Redbacks have signed import Caleb White for the 2021 NBL1 West season.

The Perth Redbacks have signed import Caleb White for the 2021 NBL1 West season.

This will be White’s second straight season with the Redbacks after playing with them in the 2020 West Coast Classic, where he amassed 18.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

He says the culture at Perth was a key reason why he decided to return.

“I decided to come back because of the relationships I built with the players, coaches, and front office personnel,” White said via perthredbacks.asn.au.

“They treated me like family from day one and I was very excited for the season that ended up getting cancelled due to COVID. In 2021 I look forward to picking up where we left off and going to war with my guys.

“The 2020 West Coast Classic was understandably filled with ups and downs. At times it was tough to gain on court chemistry with such little time together as a full team. Outside of that I had a lot of fun getting to know my teammates and playing the game that we love. I’m thankful we were able to play any games at all, honestly.

“With the league shifting to NBL1, I’m interested to see how it expands the league. I’m hoping for more exposure for players, better competition, and more respect from others around Australia and the region as well.

“I’ve grown to love Perth. My partner being here is definitely one of the main reasons that playing here is very enjoyable. Also, the weather is great, the people are wonderful, and the overall vibe of the area is chill, which fits me.”

White joins Joel Wagner, Marshall Nelson and Zac Gattorna on the Redbacks’ 2021 NBL1 West roster.
