For Ryan Rapp, Monday night is built around a rare opportunity. Not just to represent NBL1 South, but to share the floor with players he has spent years competing against.

Selected in the Under 25 Select Team, the Dandenong Rangers guard enters the showcase in strong form, helping drive his side to a 4–1 start and top spot on the NBL1 South ladder.

That form has been built on consistency and versatility, with Rapp averaging 9.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while providing balance across the Rangers lineup. Now, the setting shifts.

“There are a few guys in the team I’ve played with before, which is pretty cool,” Rapp said. “Never thought I’d get the chance to play with some of them again.”

Among those reunions are familiar names from his junior days, including Kobe Williamson and Mason Gaze, along with others he has crossed paths with throughout his development.

“But I’m honestly just looking forward to connecting with everyone, especially the guys I haven’t played with before. Opportunities like this don’t come around often.”

That mix of familiarity and fresh connection has already shaped the group dynamic, with the Select Team coming together quickly despite limited preparation.

“Training was really good. Super competitive and a lot of fun,” Rapp said. “Everyone brought great energy, and the group clicked pretty quickly.”

For Rapp, the night is as much about growth as it is performance. A chance to test himself in a new environment alongside some of the league’s best emerging talent.

“For me, it’s just about taking in the experience,” he said. “Being around high level players, competing, and learning as much as I can. It’s a great chance to test yourself and see where you’re at.”

With a strong crowd expected at Courtside – Port Melbourne, the stage is set for a showcase moment.

“It’s a privilege to be selected,” Rapp said. “I’m just looking forward to seeing what we can do.”

For Rapp, it is simple. Embrace the opportunity, reconnect with familiar faces and make the most of a rare chance to represent the league on a different stage.
