The Mount Gambier Pioneers have added talented forward Carla Pitman to their roster ahead of the 2026 NBL1 South season.
Pitman arrives in Mount Gambier following valuable experience across both the NBL1 East and the WNBL. The 21-year-old has represented the Hornsby Spiders and Northern Suburbs Bears over five NBL1 East seasons, while also featuring with the Sydney Flames during the 2025 and current 2026 WNBL campaigns.
Across her most recent WNBL season, Pitman appeared in 22 games, averaging 6.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, bringing professional-level experience, toughness and consistency to the Pioneers lineup.
At 5’10”, Pitman is known for her rebounding presence, physical defence and ability to finish through contact, qualities that will add depth and competitiveness to Mount Gambier’s frontcourt as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Already with an impressive résumé, Pitman has been part of multiple NBL1 East finals campaigns, won an NBL1 championship in 2023, and was a WNBL semi-finalist in 2025. She also represented New South Wales at the 2021 Australian U18 Championships, averaging 15.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Head Coach Matt Sutton said he was thrilled to welcome Pitman to the program.
“Very excited for Carla to join our program, she plays hard and the right way. I can see her quickly becoming a fan favourite. Her game is well rounded, so she will add versatility on both ends.”
Pitman said she’s eager to embrace the opportunity and join the Pioneers family.
“I’m very excited to be heading to Mt Gambier. I can’t wait to experience something completely different and get to know my new teammates. Mt Gambier has such a rich basketball history and I can't wait to become part of it.”
