The Mount Gambier Pioneers will throw their support behind the Limestone Coast Family Violence Action Group this Saturday, 12 July, during a dedicated Say NO to Violence Sports Round at Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre.
Both the women’s and men’s teams will wear white armbands during their home games to publicly show support for the initiative, which aims to raise awareness about domestic and family violence and promote community-wide responsibility in stopping it.
The Pioneers and the Limestone Coast Family Violence Action Group have partnered to highlight the importance of taking a stand as a community and collectively “Saying NO to Violence.”
Key messaging promoted through the round includes:
- Everyone in our community deserves to be safe and treated with respect
- Saying NO to Violence is everyone’s responsibility
Support services will be promoted throughout the venue, and members of the Family Violence Action Group will be in attendance to provide resources and assistance for community members who want to learn more or seek help.
Spectators will be encouraged to reflect on the impacts of violence and the role they can play in creating a safer, more respectful community.
