Basketball Ballarat are pleased to announce that Ethan Fiegert and Will Hynes have joined the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners for the 2021 NBL1 South Season.
The announcement comes following both players having developed through Basketball Ballarat’s Pathway Program which CEO Neville Ivey highlighted on Thursday.
“It is so pleasing to see that the hard work and perseverance of both Ethan and Will have paid off for these young athletes. Their respective Basketball journeys have been forged through great influences and support at the Club level and participating in our Junior Elite programs.” Ivey said.
Fiegert and Hynes will feature in the local Ballarat community throughout the season and play a key role by inspiring the next generation of Miners and Rush players.
“These outstanding individuals are now part of an exciting 2021 roster for the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners and importantly also contribute as mentors in our Community. Basketball Ballarat would also like to acknowledge the families of these young men who over the years have supported Ethan and Will to achieve their aspirations of playing at the elite level and to represent the Ballarat & Western Victoria region” Ivey ended with.
Hynes was looking forward to the year ahead.
“I am very excited to be announced on the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners Roster for the NBL1 South this season, as it has been a goal of mine since I started playing basketball and to be a part of the first season that will be played at the Ballarat Sports Events Centre will also be a huge thrill.” Hynes said.
“To have played Ballarat representative basketball since under-12’s I am honoured to be announced on the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners Roster and I hope younger players who aspire to play in the NBL1 South can see that there is most definitely a pathway to achieve this through the Thrifty Ballarat Miners Rush Junior Program.”
“As I was born in Ballarat and have grown up here I am looking forward to being involved as much as possible with the Ballarat community in the year ahead. I’m currently involved with the Rookie Hoops program which I really enjoy.” Hynes ended with.
Fiegert was thrilled to be announced on the roster for the upcoming season.
“I’m super excited to get the opportunity to play for my hometown team where I grew up idolising the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners and at the new Ballarat Sports Events Centre.”
Fiegert will use the opportunity to continue his development before moving overseas to play College Basketball for Culver-Stockton College in Missouri after accepting a scholarship earlier this year.
“I hope to gain strength, knowledge and be playing my best basketball before I head off to Culver-Stockton College at the end of the season where I plan on studying Mathematics or Business Marketing.”
“I can’t wait to get involved with the community, whether that be at home games, Aussie Hoops, basketball camps or out and about in Ballarat.” Fiegert ended with.
Both Fiegert and Hynes will feature as registered development players to maintain their College eligibility.
Ethan Fiegert and Will Hynes join Zac Dunmore, Jordan Lingard, Daniel Joyce, Matt Kenyon and William Hickey as announced players on the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners roster. The 2021 NBL1 South Season will commence on April 19th when the teams travel to Albury to take on the Albury-Wodonga Bandits.
