The first round of NBL action was spectacular, with massive dunks and overtime games, NBL23 started off unrivalled. But some of our NBL1 stars were the driving factor in this massive first round of hoops.

See some of the best moments from Round 1 below:

Devondrick Walker

Making his NBL return, Rockingham Flames superstar and NBL1 West MVP Devondrick Walker lit up the first team to give him a chance the Perth Wildcats. He scored 16 points off the bench with an array of three-pointers, running off screens, fading away and more.

Lachlan Dent

Brisbane Capitals star Lachlan Dent has started NBL23 on fire. He erupted against the Kings for a career-high 19 at home as the Illawarra Hawks nearly secured a win in their first game of the season.

Dent averaged 18.6 points in the NBL1 North and he’s starting off NBL23 almost matching his season average.

DJ Mitchell

Making his NBL debut, DJ Mitchell looked right at home alongside his God Coast Rollers teammates Jason Cadee and Tanner Krebs. The Bullets lost to the Wildcats in The Jungle but Mitchell made a splash in his first game, throwing down a two-handed jam.

The Bullets had a slow start to open NBL23, but we expect a lot from them this season with all their NBL1 talent.

Jack McVeigh

Coming off an NBL Blitz MVP,  the North Gold Coast Seahawk was electric for the Tasmania JackJumpers in the season opener.

He scored 20 points, shooting 7-10 from the field and 4/6 from the three-point line. The JackJumpers will be just as fiery as last season and McVeigh should be a big part of that.

Keanu Pinder

The new look Cairns Taipans are a lot of fun to watch, and that’s especially due to Northside Wizards star Keanu Pinder.

In the opening seconds of the game, he won the jump ball and rolled to the basket for an audacious one-handed slam. He finished with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists, as one of many NBL1 stars set to flourish in Cairns in NBL23.
