The NBL1 South Youth Player of the Year Jade Melbourne has a new partner in crime. Newcastle Falcons superstar Nicole Munger has taken on a bigger role in the Capitals' offence and it’s paying off.
Melbourne dropped 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists against the Perth Lynx while Munger followed with her own 10 points.
Munger has become a fan favourite with the Canberra faithful, having multiple fans bring signs to cheer her against the Sydney Flames.
Lauren Mansfield getting comfortable in her home state
After a successful season with the Gold Coast Rollers, Lauren Mansfield will head home to play with the North Adelaide Rockets in NBL1 Central for 2023.
Currently one of the Adelaide Lightning’s stars, Mansfield had 22 points, six assists and six rebounds against the Boomers in the close overtime loss. Mansfield has been outstanding in the WNBL season so far, averaging 13 a game for the Lightning as their stacked roster of NBL1 talent is slowly improving round by round.
NBL1 North MVP getting into a groove
After averaging a near triple-double with the Northside Wizards, Tiana Mangakahia has made her return to the WNBL and has started to look like herself.
Against the Capitals, Mangakahia dropped 15 points and five rebounds in their win in their first home game of the season. She’s already re-signed for the 2023 season and will be joined by the recently graduated Georgia Dale and NBL1 North champion Courtney Woods.
