The WNBL is back after the FIBA Break and there was plenty of NBL1 action over Round 4 of the WNBL.
Check out how it all went below:
Nicole Munger debut
Newcastle Falcon’s star Nicole Munger signed with the UC Capitals and made her WNBL debut against the Adelaide Lightning on Wednesday.
She scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds in her 25 minutes and showed her defensive mindset carrying over from the NBL1 East. The Caps need all the firepower they can get and she can definitely score in high bunches, dropping 53 points in the NBL1 East season.
Alicia Froling continues to play well in Bendigo’s hot streak
The NBL1 South MVP has been a key factor in Bendigo’s 5-0 start to the season. In Round 4 she averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds in their wins over Townsville and the Sydney Flames, against her twin Keely.
While Keely scored more, Alicia got the win and the Spirit are flying past the league thus far. Alongside the Player of the Round and Eltham Wildcat Annely Maley, they are filled with NBL1 talent and are looking like the true title contenders this season.
Cayla George makes history
The Melbourne Boomers legend and Cairns Dolphin superstar had a historic Round 4, jumping up to seventh all-time on the WNBL scoring ladder and second in all-time rebounds.
George had 23 points and 13 boards while NBL1 North champion Mia Murray had 18 points, shooting 4/6 from three and filling the injured Tess Madgen’s spot well. The NBL1 North pair have stabilised the retooled Boomers in their hopes of repeating as champions.
