Lynx pounce on NBL1 West duo for WNBL27

A young NBL1 West duo will unite at the Perth Lynx during the WNBL27 season, with Warwick Senator Kyana Weir and East Perth Eagle Brooke Malone signing as Development Players.

For Weir, she will return to the WNBL franchise she spent time at during 2025-26.

In her fourth consecutive season at the Senators, Weir averaged 11 points while hitting on multiple triples per game.

She was a part of a group that conquered the first-placed Cockburn Cougars in the NBL1 West Grand Final.

At the 2026 NBL1 National Finals, the 20-year-old guard showcased her ability to handle the offensive responsibility, scoring 25 points, including 4 triples, against Sturt.

"I'm really excited to be back with the Lynx and grateful for another opportunity to be a part of the program," Weir said.

"I feel like I've taken another step with Warwick this year and I'm looking forward to coming back into the Lynx environment, competing every day and continuing to learn from the players and coaches around me."

23-year-old Malone walks into a new environment off the back of a strong season with the East Perth Eagles; a season reminiscent of her 2024 form with the Perth Redbacks.

In 23 matches this NBL1 season, she averaged 15.4 points, 7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

"It's really exciting to get this opportunity with the Lynx, and something I've been working towards for a long time," Malone said.

"I've really enjoyed being back in Western Australia this year and feel like I've been able to show more of what I can bring at both ends of the floor.

"Being able to train and compete alongside WNBL players every day is going to be a great challenge for me, and I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can and contributing wherever I get the opportunity."

Weir and Malone add to the long list of NBL1 talent featuring at the Perth Lynx in WNBL27, including the likes of Anneli Maley, Samantha Ashby, Alex Ciabattoni and Chloe Hodges.
