NBL1 stars on the international stage

It was a busy weekend for some star NBL1 players, with the U19 Gems and Boomers squads getting named and the U19 Emus beginning their World Cup campaign in Latvia.

It was a busy weekend for some star NBL1 players, with the U19 Gems and Boomers squads getting named and the U19 Emus beginning their World Cup campaign in Latvia.
The U19 Gems squad includes six current and former NBL1 players, headlined by Dandenong's Dallas Loughridge.
Former players includes Knox's Charlise Dunn as well as Jade Melbourne, Millie Prior, Kelsey Rees and Olivia Pollerd, who all played for Basketball Australia's Centre of Excellence in 2019.
The Gems' World Cup campaign commences on August 7 in Hungary.
The Emus have already began their World Cup campaign going 1-1 so far against Mali and Turkey.
Brisbane Capitals guard Tamuri Wigness is leading the way along with fellow NBL1 stars Taran Armstrong (North West Thunder) and Blake Jones (Logan).
The team also features former NBL1 players Dyson Daniels (Bendigo), Reyne Smith (North West Thunder) and Bol Dengdit (Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence).
Rounding off the big weekend was the news of Ipswich's Nathan Sobey heading to Tokyo with the Australian Boomers squad.
Sobey played two games for the Force this season and averaged 30 points.
