Five players set to feature in the NBL1 South 2026 season have been named in the Gangurrus squads for the upcoming FIBA 3x3 Champions Cup in Bangkok, Thailand from March 13–15.

Fresh off their first national training camp of the year in Cairns, the Australian men’s and women’s 3x3 teams will take on some of the world’s best at the second edition of the Champions Cup, one of the premier events on the international 3x3 calendar.

Among those selected are several familiar names for NBL1 South fans. Lachlan Barker (Geelong United) and Dillon Stith (Kilsyth Cobras) have been named in the men’s squad, while Emma Clarke (Ringwood Hawks), Kristy Wallace (Knox Raiders) and Lara McSpadden (Keilor Thunder) headline the women’s selections.

Frankston Blues captain Lou Brown has also been named as an emergency substitution for the women’s team.

The Gangurrus return to the event after a strong debut in 2025, where both the men’s and women’s teams secured podium finishes.

There is plenty on the line in Bangkok this year, with the tournament winners earning direct qualification to the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2027, the 2027 Champions Cup and the Cups-based Olympic Qualification Tournament as the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games begins to take shape.

Australia’s men have been drawn into Pool B alongside the United States, Netherlands and Madagascar, while the women will face the Netherlands, United States and Madagascar in Pool A.

All games will be streamed live via the FIBA3x3 YouTube channel.

The NBL1 South 2026 season tips off on Friday 27th March 2026. For all the latest updates, including player signings, coaching appointments and league news, make sure you’re following NBL1 South on Facebook and Instagram.
