NBL1 South Round 3 Preview – Women

OneFortyOne Pioneers (4-0) vs Ballarat Miners (2-1)
After the opening two rounds of the 2026 NBL1 South season taking place on the road The OneFortyOne Pioneers return to Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre this Friday night for their first home game, hosting the Ballarat Miners in Round 3 action.

The Pioneers enters round 3 of the season undefeated at 4-0, building strong momentum to open the season on the road. Whilst Ballarat arrives with a 2-1 record and one of the more efficient offensive units in the competition.
The Miners present a well-balanced scoring threat, headlined by Elissa Brett (18.0 points per game), Malia Fisher (20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds), and Constance Hobby (20.0 points, 10.3 rebounds). Their ability to score inside and out is a key strength, with Ballarat shooting an elite 40.2% from three-point range while generating 87.0 points per game.

Ballarat’s ball movement has also been a standout, ranking among the top teams in assist percentage, led by Abigail Wehrung who is averaging 8.7 assists per game to go with her all-around production.

Despite their efficient offence, the Miners play at a slower tempo, meaning the Pioneers’ defensive pressure and ability to control the pace could prove decisive in front of a home crowd.

For Mount Gambier, the focus will be on maintaining their strong start to the season, protecting home court, and limiting Ballarat’s perimeter shooting while matching their physical presence inside.

With both teams bringing strong early-season form, fans can expect a high-quality contest as the Pioneers look to continue their unbeaten run.
