The many talents of NBL1 East athletes cannot be understated. From the feats they achieve on the court, the highlight dunks, the jaw-dropping dimes and the insane step-back three’s. There is no question the conference is loaded with talent.

One thing that has become heavily apparent over the course of the year is that the talent doesn’t just end ON the hardwood. Some NBL1 East players are just as creative behind the camera as they are between the lines.

Here are a couple to keep you entertained over the upcoming long weekend:

HOLEY MOLEY MATCHA REVIEWS:

When you watch Bears enforcer Lewis Holey on the court, you may think a couple of things. But to find out he is North Sydney’s leading figure in the mission to find the city’s ‘least bad cup of matcha’ probably isn’t one of them.

The big man not only devours rebounds and sets some of the league’s toughest screens, but attacks his matcha latte reviews with the same vigour.

When speaking to Norths star Lachie Bofinger about the reviews on NEXT QUESTION LIVE, Bofinger was stoked Holey’s content had not gone unnoticed.

“I’m really happy you brought up the matcha reviews, I actually made an appearance on the last one…  This will be great for him, hopefully there’s a few people watching that can go check out that content,” said Bofinger.

Well Bof… Hopefully there are a couple of people reading this that will do the same.

COACH JOSIE BULMAN:

How do you define ‘success’ in the content creation game? Is it your Follower count? Views? Engagement, ‘Likes’, ‘Comments’, ‘Shares’ and ‘Saves’? We know what you’re thinking, ‘duhh yeah?’.

Well, to us, another great indicator is when an NBA All-Star and future Hall of Famer gives you a shout-out.

That is what happened to Manly Warringah Sea Eagles forward Josie Radan (Radan on the court, Bulman on socials), where her Basketball Strength and Conditioning page caught the eye of Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard.

Bulman, who works with the Sydney Kings in the Strength and Conditioning program, currently has 127k followers and provides programs, coaching, and education. Check out this handy ankle exercise that you bet every baller with paper-thin ankles needs to try!

DAY IN THE LIFE OF MATT ‘MONEY’ MIMS:

There may not be an import in recent NBL1 East history with a higher approval rating than Illawarra Hawks sharpshooter Matt Mims.

Not only does his play on the court achieve this, but his likeable, charismatic persona off the court does as well.

Mims’ Day in the Life content has been a fan favourite across the league, with the guard telling Jon Guarna on ‘Around the 1’ back in March

‘One of my childhood friends back in Iowa, he is an electrical engineer, and he posts his 9-5 everyday and it’s just like blown up,’ said Mims.

‘It’s something I’ve always wanted to try, to see if I could grow a brand on social media… It’s only been a month in and I’ve already gotten 2,000 new followers.’

From beach trips, lovable dog content, and now, training his girlfriend to make the NBA (no… not a typo), this is content that is engaging while also showing the personality of the potential NBL player behind the scenes.

HITTING THE ROAD WITH TROOPS.TRIPPING:

If you’re like us and like wholesome content just as much as the next person, well Maitland Mustangs Men’s back-up guard Isaac Testoni and Maitland Mustangs Women’s Assistant Coach Meg Dal Broi’s Troops.Tripping page is perfect for you.

Currently, the couple are ‘DIY-ing’ their Troopie as they prepare to set off on a trip around Australia. From the voice-overs, hip bumps (if you know, you know), and the walkthroughs of the build, they really make you feel part of the journey.

We are also 100% waiting for their Spotify road trip playlist to drop, with some absolute bangers featuring in the content.
