The Ballarat Miners Women have signed their first Import for the 2023 NBL1 South Season with Emma Karamovic joining the team.
Karamovic is a Swedish National who played college basketball for Tampa University and Southeastern University in Florida before playing professionally in Europe.
Whilst playing for Ausarta Barakaldo in Spain, Karamovic averaged 13.3 Points and 4.5 rebounds a game for the season.
Upon signing with Miners Karamovic said “This is my first time coming to Australia, I was looking for a team with great culture and a coach that believes in me and the team and that is why I signed with the Miners”
Karamovic added, “I want to set up goals with the team and try our best to reach them but also explore the area and integrate into the community.”
Ballarat Miners Women’s Head Coach Rob Baker said “We are looking forward to Emma arriving in town late tonight. She will be a great fit for us on the court with her international experience and her ability to play multiple positions on the floor”.
Baker added, “Emma has the ability to play inside with her physicality and strength and stretch the floor from outside with her shooting range”.
Ballarat Miners Elite Teams Committee Member Lynly Doherty said, “We are pleased to welcome Emma to Ballarat, she will add international experience to our core group of local players.”
Karamovic will arrive in Ballarat late Friday night and will be around the team across the weekend as they play in practice across the 55th Sporting Globe Ballarat Senior Tournament.
Given Karamovic has only just jumped off a plane, minutes will be limited if any to avoid any injuries.
Karamovic is the 6th signing for the Ballarat Miners women behind Abbey Wehrung, Millie Cracknell, Jemma Amoore, Annie Collins and Milly Sharp for the 2023 season with more players to be announced before the NBL1 South season starts on April 1st, 2023.
