With Australia opening its borders to fully vaccinated visa holders the Ballarat Miners Men are excited to announce their first import signing since 2019 with David Crisp joining the club.
Crisp is a point guard who played with the Washington Huskies in College alongside Australian Matisse Thybulle before being second in the round2 2019 G-League draft to Stockton Kings.
Crisp spent his 2020/21 season playing in Denmark with Randers Cimbria alongside fellow Ballarat Miners recruit Preston Bungei where Crisp averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.6 rebounds a game.
Upon signing with the Ballarat Miners Crisp said “I signed with Ballarat because it felt like the best team for me to come in and contribute in a big way, being that coach and myself have the same goals, aspirations to win, and philosophy as far as our approach to the game.”
Crisp added, “I will bring great energy, leadership, and an uplifting spirit to the team, these things are huge for a team that is not measured in a stat sheet, but the team and organisation feel it.”
Ballarat Miners Men’s Head Coach Luke Sunderland said “David is going to be a great addition to our squad. His career at the high major level is outstanding, playing alongside several NBA players throughout his career while playing a big role in the team himself.”
Sunderland added, “David is also an outstanding person who I have no doubts will be embraced by not only the club but the wider Ballarat community".
Ballarat Miners Committee Member Matt Sheehan said “David is a great addition to our club; it is great that we can once again bring in quality imports to complement our local talent and integrate them into the Ballarat community”
Crisps is due to arrive in Ballarat in mid-March saying “I’m looking forward to meeting all of my teammate’s coaches and staff. I am excited to see and experience the community as well”
Crisp will join fellow signings of Jordan Lingard, Zac Dunmore, Will Hynes, Nic Pozoglou, Preston Bungei with more signings to come.
The Ballarat Miners will tip off the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 South season at Selkirk Stadium on Saturday, April 23 against regional rivals Geelong Supercats.
