Miners appoint Australian National Coach for 2022 Season

Basketball Ballarat are proud to announce the appointment of former 2021, Australian Gems U19 Silver Medal winning Head Coach, David Herbert, as the Miners Women’s coach for the 2022 season.

Chair of the Elite Teams Committee, Cam Moore states “David as a coach has a very strong reputation of being able to develop players and is keen to work with local talent from Ballarat and the Western District,” Moore says.

David Herbert is the current Head of Basketball at Western Heights College where he leads a progressive model of learning that provides students with the skills, knowledge and values to shape their futures and contribute meaningfully.

“What an exciting opportunity to join the Ballarat Miners’ Said Coach David Herbert today.

“I am very proud to fill coaching the role after such an amazing club legend Eric Hayes decided to step away.  I have always admired Eric and hope he continues in some way with a club he has helped build and grow over many years’ Herbert added.

“The role is an exciting one for me, the infrastructure that Ballarat has put in place, new 3000 seat stadium, gymnasium, on site Strength and Conditioning staff and Physiotherapy, along with the vision that CEO, Nevile Ivey and the Ballarat Miners board have will see Basketball grow and develop in the region”

Basketball Ballarat CEO, Nev Ivey states “David’s experience at a national level and as a high-performance coach with Basketball Victoria provides our Club with a tremendous level of confidence that he will further develop our program over the next 3 years.”
