The Melbourne Tigers have announced the signing of Chinese National Team star Shuyu Yang to their women's side for the 2026 NBL1 South season.
A rising star in Chinese basketball, Yang arrives in Melbourne with a decorated resume at national level. The 24-year-old guard played a key role in China's Bronze Medal finish at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 3x3 basketball and was part of the team that claimed gold at the 2023 FIBA Women's Asia Cup. She was also recently recognised in the All-Star-Five at the FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament this year.
Most recently playing for the Guangdong Vermilion Birds in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA), Yang has developed into a consistent and dynamic performer.
She recently starred leading the side to the 2025 FIBA Women's Basketball League Asia title, earning Most Valuable Player honours in the final.
Tigers head coach Kaleb Sclater shared his excitement, highlighting Yang's fit within the Tigers system.
