The Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the signing of big man, Majok Majok for the 2024 NBL1 South Season. Majok will bring a great level of leadership to the team as well as a strong inside presence on the floor.

Majok, 31, joins the Miners with a near decade-long experience in the NBL through his time at Melbourne United, New Zealand Breakers & the Perth Wildcats, whilst this year has been spent as part of the Tasmanian JackJumpers side as a Nominated Replacement Player. He also has experience within the NBL1 across 3 of the conferences due to his time with Frankston Blues (South, Conference rival), Warwick Senators (West, with new Head Coach Luke Brennan) & the North Gold Coast Seahawks last season (North, having played against fellow recruit Nick Stoddart) where he averaged a double-double of 12.3pts and 11.7 rebounds per game.

Upon signing, Majok said “I’m excited to be on board with the team and to play for the great town of Ballarat. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, from players and staff to the greater community, and getting started for what should be an amazing season ahead”.

Ballarat Miners Head Coach Luke Brennan said, “Majok will provide the group with a much needed presence in the paint. He’s a walking double-double who makes smart decisions with the basketball. Having worked previously with Majok in both the NBL and NBL1, there is a great level of comfort between us.

Brennan added, “I know he will have a great impact on not only the team but the broader Ballarat community”.

Ballarat Miners Elite Teams Committee Member Matt Sheehan said, “It’s great to have Majok join the Ballarat Miners for the 2024 Season. As well as adding significant height to our roster which was important after losing Riley Dunn, who’s pursuing his Basketball further in the US, we also thought it was important to add some experience to our relatively young squad.

Sheehan added, “Majok will be a key asset in our big man rotation and will further free up Tyler Rudolph who took on the brunt of the big man work load last season”.

Majok is the tenth Miners Men’s player announced for the 2024 NBL1 South season behind last month’s announcement of Luke Rosendale, as well as previously announced new signing in Nick Stoddart, promoted athlete Ethan Fiegert, and returning players in Zac Dunmore, Ned Renfree, Jake Lloyd, Max Cody, Amos Brooks, & import MVP Tyler Rudolph.

The NBL1 South Season begins in just under a month, on April 3rd when the Miners take on Bendigo Braves at Selkirk Stadium. Memberships are limited but still remain on sale via Miners Memberships.
