The Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the re-signing of Jake Lloyd for the 2024 NBL1 South Season.
Lloyd returns to the Miners after crossing over from arch-rivals the Bendigo Braves prior to last season and is thrilled to be coming back for a second season.
Ballarat Miners Head Coach Luke Brennan said, “Stoked to have Lloydy back on board for this coming season, he’s a great shooter who gives us plenty of defensive toughness and fantastic versatility on both ends of the floor.”
Brennan added, “Jake is a great teammate who still has plenty of growth left in his game and I’m excited to see that happen as the season progresses.”
Coming back for another season at Ballarat was a no-brainer for Lloyd, who said “I just felt like I had more to prove in the Ballarat uniform and wanted to show that to my coach, teammates, and the Ballarat community.”
Jake added, “The people involved at the club made the decision even easier, and with a core group of us already coming back, along with some of the newer signings, I just know that we are going to have a successful and enjoyable season in 2024.”
Ballarat Miners Elite Teams Committee Member Matt Sheehan said, “It’s great to have Jake back on board with the Miners for another season. One of our off-season priorities was Jake's return to the Miners. Jake is a true 2-way player (Offense and Defence) and will provide Coach Luke Brennan with the flexibility of playing many different positions for the Miners this season”
Sheehan added “With Nic Pozoglou pursuing his basketball career in Europe currently, Jake will have much more responsibility for the team this year. Jake is a pure team player, very well-liked amongst the playing group, and is a great role model for our Junior Miners coming through”.
Lloyd is the fourth Miners Men’s player announced for the 2024 NBL1 South season behind other returning players in Max Cody, Amos Brooks, & returning import MVP Tyler Rudolph.
