The Ballarat Miners are thrilled to announce that Jake Lloyd has joined the NBL1 Miners Men’s team for the 2023 NBL1 South Season.

Lloyd joins the Miners from the Bendigo Braves after four seasons where he averaged 11.64 point, 4.59 rebounds and 1.77 assists per game in 2022.

Ballarat Miners Head Coach Luke Sunderland said, “Despite his relatively young age Jake is not only highly experienced but carries himself on and off the court like a true veteran.”

Sunderland added “Jake will not only complement our young local core of players well but will also be able to help the team play consistently good basketball with his ability to play multiple positions at both ends with his physical tools but also his basketball IQ.”

When asked why he joined the Miners Lloyd said “I had talked to a lot of people who have been at the club previously and every time I asked about the club they spoke highly of the Miners and all the people involved.”

Lloyd added “Poz [Nic Pozoglou] has also been in my ear for a while and talked about how much he has enjoyed it and I am wanting to enjoy basketball again.”

Ballarat Miners Elite Teams Committee Member Matt Sheehan said, “Jake joins our program from Bendigo and has already immersed himself in our wider community by coming along and supporting our Juniors at the recent Bendigo Tournament”.

Sheehan added “Jake will add depth to our overall structure, he is a great 2-way player that brings high level experience and is a genuine nice guy”.

Lloyd is the eighth Miners Men’s player announced for the 2023 NBL1 South season behind Nic Pozoglou, Zac Dunmore, Jordan Lingard, Max Cody, Amos Brooks, Adam Thosbey and American Imports Tyler Rudolph, and Jack Davidson.

The NBL1 South Season begins on April 1st when the Miners take on Melbourne Tigers at Selkirk Stadium. Memberships are now on sale via Miners Memberships
