South Adelaide has added more firepower for the 2027 season, prying young guard Jessica Simons away from NBL1 Central rival Forestville to play under her father, Panthers coach Andrew Simons.
Simons was one of the Eagles’ go-to contributors in 2026, averaging 14.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while playing alongside her older sister, Samantha.
Her best performance came against the Central Districts Lions in April, when she poured in a career-high 34 points. She drained 10 three-pointers at 59 per cent from deep as Forestville ran away with a 10-point win.
It’s the kind of firepower that will excite Panthers fans as the club looks to go a step further in 2027.
“I’m super excited for a fresh start at South Adelaide and am looking forward to playing under Dad again,” Simons said.
“I’m excited for a new chapter and can’t wait to see what we can achieve with this great group.”
The former Under-17 international leaves Forestville after six consecutive NBL1 Central seasons in yellow and blue. She has also spent two seasons in the WNBL as a development player with the Adelaide Lightning.
Simons is South Adelaide’s third summer signing, joining youngster Daisy Hocking and long-time Panther Hannah Stewart, who have both already re-signed with the club.
