Lakeside Lightning signs Men's NBL1 Coach - Mike Malat

The Lakeside Lightning are pleased to confirm that we has signed Mike Malat to a 3-year deal to be the next Head of Coaching / Men’s NBL1 Coach for the Lakeside Lightning.

As a player, Mike had a successful college career, was an NBA D League draft nominee with the Texas Legends, played professionally in Italy, and was part of the Dallas Mavericks training squad.

As a coach, Mike has been a skills trainer for current and past NBA players, and coached at the AAU and High School level in the USA. More recently, he led the Norwood Flames (South Australia) to the Championship game of the 2021 NBL1 Central competition.

A special thankyou to the Lightning Leadership Team who led a very broad and thorough search over the last two months. Their thorough recommendation is fully supported and endorsed by the Lakeside Management Team.

Mike joins us with his wife and young son. We hope to have them here at Lakeside by October.
