The Castec Rural Pioneers are excited that 2022 Golden Hands award winner and former Mount Gambier Lakers junior Kane de Wit is the first player to re-sign for the 2023 NBL1 South Season.
Twenty-five-year-old de Wit was a National Championship Player with the Castec Rural Pioneers in 2015 and 2017 before playing for the Forestville Eagles in the Adelaide Premier League in 2019 and 2020.
In two seasons back with the Pioneers de Wit has become an increasingly important part of the roster, demonstrating his leadership on and off the court. In 2022 de Wit had a solid all round season averaging just under 5.92 points per game, 4.96 assists and 4.29 rebounds.
Castec Rural Pioneers Head Coach Richard Hill said it was thrilled that de Wit has signed with the Pioneers for another season.
“I’m excited Kane is remaining a Pioneer in 2023. He continues to be a key player in our team and is a floor leader who is strong at both ends of the court.
Kane continues to improve and was a strong contributor in our successful 2022 season. I am confident that there will be further improvement in the 2023 season,” Hill said.
de Wit is the son of Pioneer’s legend Ray de Wit.
