Julie Tipene and Tom Daly Inducted as Life Members of the Pioneers Basketball Club

The Pioneers Basketball Club proudly recognises Julie Tipene and Tom Daly as Life Members, honouring their long-standing service, leadership and dedication to the club both on and off the court.

Julie has been a key figure behind the scenes, serving on the Management Board for over a decade and volunteering across countless seasons. From coordinating game nights and managing volunteers to rolling up her sleeves at working bees with her partner Steve, Julie’s commitment has helped shape the Pioneers experience for players, fans and the wider community. As a parent of former player Kyle Tipene, her support has extended across generations and remains deeply valued by all at the club.

Tom has made an equally significant impact through his leadership on the floor. As the captain of the Castec Rural Pioneers, he has played a central role in the team’s success, leading with heart, professionalism and integrity. Beyond his performance, Tom has been a mentor to younger players and a powerful example of what it means to represent the Pioneers.

The Life Membership honour reflects the enduring legacy of both Julie and Tom, and the club is incredibly proud to acknowledge their contributions in this way.
