Coming to Perth from Victoria, the 6’3” guard, who is a dual citizen, represented Malta at FIBA International tournaments where he averaged 22 points a game.
During Formosa's professional basketball career in Malta, he won three championships with Falken Cynergy Virtus and Starlites Naxxar in the Malta Basketball League, a finals MVP, FIBA European Championship and FIBA Small Countries gold medal.
Playing in Australia, Formosa played for the Sunbury Jets and Werribee Devils in the Big V League. During his Preeminent Development League career in Australia, Formosa has been nominated for Youth Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
“I'm extremely happy to have been given the opportunity to join the NBL1 West," Formosa said.
"It's something I've been working hard to achieve this year and when I was given the opportunity to join the Wolves it was a no brainer for me.
"The communication with Coach Andrew, along with the professionalism of the club and its facilities makes it an environment I hope to thrive in. I'm grateful to be given this chance.
"I'm really looking forward to getting on the court and building good chemistry with my teammates and working hard to hopefully win the championship this NBL1 season."
Wolves CEO and men’s coach Andrew Summerville shared his thoughts on Formosa signing with the Wolves for the 2021 NBL1 West season.
“Jacob is the perfect fit for us," Summerville said.
"Our team has a lot of talented players and we needed someone who could come in and create for themselves but also understand our system and create for others.
"Jacob compliments our other players but is also capable of having some big games himself. Having another player on our team who has played professionally in Europe is great for us, not to mention the fact he has represented his country at FIBA International tournaments.
"Jacob is a strong guard with great athleticism. He can defend, rebound and play multiple positions.
“I look forward to seeing him in Green and seeing what he can do.”
