The Joondalup Wolves have announced Robbie Huntington has re-signed for the 2021 and 2022 season.
The 6’8” forward has re-signed with the Wolves for a further two years coming into the first NBL1 West season. Huntington has played with the Wolves since 2013 and has played 221 games averaging 14 points per game at an impressive 62 percent from the field.
Huntington has been a crucial part of the Wolves success over the years and is one of the most respected big men in the league. His longevity and loyalty to the Wolves makes him a real club person and he is the heart and soul of the team.
“It’s an absolute privilege to continue playing with and being supported by an incredible family at the Wolves," Huntington said.
"Can’t wait to welcome Jon and Jacob into the group and look forward to putting the green on alongside them and all the boys for another year.
"We’re incredibly lucky that we share a high standard and are looked after the way we are, and that’s a credit to the hard work put in by everyone at the club for which myself and the gents are truly grateful.”
Joondalup CEO and men’s coach Andrew Summerville shared his thoughts on Huntington re-signing with the Wolves.
“Robbie is a key part of this team and our club so it is great to have him back for two more seasons at least," Summerville said.
"He had a difficult season in 2020 with a few niggling injuries but he really showed us what he was capable of in the last game of the season when he was fit and healthy. He was brilliant and pretty much sealed the win for us in a must win game.
"He is easy to coach, no frills and doesn’t get rattled. He is an experienced campaigner and with Hamish Warden and Joel Vaiangina he makes our big man stocks very tough.
"Robbie has been one of the best and most consistent bigs in the league over many years and I’m thrilled he wants to stay a Wolf.”
Huntington will be joining Lochlan Cummings, Seb Salinas, Reece Maxwell, Joel Vaiangina, Hamish Warden, Jordan Wellsteed, Jonathan Wade, Ben Ironmonger and Jacob Formosa on the Wolves men’s 2021 roster.
