Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners sign William Hickey

Basketball Ballarat are pleased to announce the signing of William Hickey who will join the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners for the 2021 NBL1 South Season.

Hickey will provide a wealth of experience having played with the South East Melbourne Phoenix as a development player previously.

“I’m heaps excited to be here. I can’t wait to get back onto a court to play competitive and play high level basketball. I Haven’t been this eager to play in a long time.”

The Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners Roster continues to strengthen and Hickey had high expectations for the upcoming season.

“First of all a successful winning season with the team, from that I want to make some noise and hopefully sign with an NBL team after the season ends.”

Hickey was looking forward to being part of the Ballarat Community and particularly as a role model for the Indigenous Community.

“I actually am, I know there is also a small Indigenous community here and being a proud Indigenous man myself I really want to get involved with them and also the wider community in Ballarat to inspire some kids from this town and hopefully see the sport grow even more than what it is in here.” Hickey ended with.

Elite Teams Manager for Basketball Ballarat was thrilled to have Hickey join the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners for 2021.

“Hickey will be a key part of the roster this season and no doubt have a positive influence on our developing players too.”

White said that Hickey will be a great support for Basketball Ballarat across the local community programs.

“We are looking forward to seeing Hickey play an active role in the community and provide a real positive impact locally.” White ended with.

William Hickey joins Zac Dunmore, Jordan Lingard, Daniel Joyce and Matt Kenyon as announced players on the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners roster. The 2021 NBL1 South Season will commence on April 19th when the teams travel to Albury to take on the Albury-Wodonga Bandits.
