Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners Head Coach Brendan Joyce to pursue an opportunity overseas.

Brendan Joyce joined Basketball Ballarat in 2018 as the Head Coach of the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners ahead of the Inaugural 2019 NBL1 Season.

Basketball Ballarat would like to congratulate Brendan on his appointment as the Head Coach of the Kaohsiung Aquas in Taiwan, which will see him continue his coaching career after many years at both national and international levels.

The Kaohsiung Aquas are an all-new team in the T1 Taiwan basketball league which takes place during the NBL1 South off-season. Joyce will see out his current contract with the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners however has not ruled out a return to the competition in 2022. 

“Having coached all over Asia Europe and the USA with our Boomers and Opals programs. I have tremendous respect for basketball in Asia and the way the game is played. I also have experienced coaching games in Japan China Singapore and South Korea, but this will be the first-time l have coached a team in Taiwan.I have knocked back opportunities in the past to coach overseas, but my children are grown up now and my wife Joanne has been tremendous with her support to now embrace a new opportunity as a coach overseas!

I want to thank everyone here in Australia, players, coaches, clubs, administration, friends, and family that have played a role in my development as a coach on a National and International basis.

I am extremely excited about this new opportunity to coach the Kaohsiung Aquas. “ Brendan added.
