Heslehurst takes charge of Braves Women

The Bendigo Braves have appointed Brayden Heslehurst as Head Coach of their women’s team for the NBL1 South 2027 season.

Heslehurst arrives at the Braves with extensive experience across the NBL1 and WNBL, highlighted by a championship-winning stint with the Logan Thunder.

Taking charge of Logan in 2019, Heslehurst led the Thunder to the Queensland State League title in 2020 before guiding the club to the inaugural NBL1 North Women’s Championship in 2021.

Logan finished the 2021 regular season with a 12-1 record on the way to the championship, before continuing its strong run under Heslehurst with an undefeated 19-0 regular season in 2022.

After six seasons at Logan, Heslehurst departed following the 2024 campaign before returning to NBL1 North in 2026 as Head Coach of the North Gold Coast Seahawks for the club’s return to the competition.

Alongside his extensive NBL1 experience, Heslehurst also brings WNBL experience to the role, having been part of the Bendigo Spirit coaching staff as an assistant coach.

His broader coaching background includes experience with the Sunshine Coast Phoenix and Southern Districts Spartans, along with involvement in Queensland’s representative pathways.

Heslehurst now makes the move to NBL1 South, taking charge of the Braves as preparations begin for the NBL1 South 2027 season.
