Hawks Big V Youth Squads Announced

Ringwood Hawks Youth League Coaches Russell Lee (Men's) and Shaun Rawson (Women's) have announced their squads for 2021.

For Rawson, 2020 was going to be his first season at the helm of the Hawks VYC Women's team but COVID has meant he will now look at 2021 as his debut season. His team will be the youngest squad the Hawks have had in many years with as many as 7 Under 18 girls enjoying a massive opportunity to test themselves against the States best young talent. Kiahna Liddy and Erin Hynson will looked to provide the on court leadership to this talented and hungry young group.

"All any player can really ask for is an opportnuity, and these girls are going to get exactly that in 2021." Rawson said

"The best part of the job is watching them listen, learn and improve. Our team will be energetic and fun to watch."

The VYC Men have the look of a team that will be contending for the play offs in 2021. Russell Lee continues to develop the Hawks junior players, promoting them through from the VJBL teams, but also has the bonus of some returning Hawks juniors back from USA Colleges. The mix of young first year players and veteran Youthies means the Hawks will be able to have many different looks about how they will play the game next season. Kaide Fittolani and Angok Angok will juggle duties with the Hawks NBL1 team as well.

"We have a great batch of young kids coming through and they will all get their chance to establish a on court role." Lee said.

"Our more experienced guys are also not just focussed on their own development but also the development of the younger guys. As a Coach, you really can't ask for much more."

The Big V season is slated to return mid to late March.
