Gorman Joins Miners Women

The Ballarat Miners women this week have again added another player with Steph Gorman arriving in Ballarat. Gorman who is originally from Wodonga, Victoria has spent the last four years in the USA College system.
Gorman, who is a guard, started with Utah State where she averaged 8.7 points, 2.5 assistants, and 2.8 rebounds a game across the 2018-19 and 20-19-20 seasons before moving to the University of Santiago for her final two years of study where in her final year she averaged 10.5 points, 3.1 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game.
Gorman is excited to be joining the Miners saying “Ballarat is an awesome club and Herbie is such a great coach and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to learn from him.” Gorman added, “I am also excited by the team culture and getting to play with the girls on the team.”
Head Coach David Herbert spoke about the signing saying “Steph joins us after an impressive college career and we are excited to add her to our group”
Herbert added, “With the inclusion on Steph we will look to develop a slightly more aggressive style of defence which will be exciting for the crowd moving forward.”
Gorman spoke about her time in college “It's surreal how much it has helped develop my game. The college experience as a whole has allowed me to grow on and off the court.”
Gorman added “I've been able to add a lot of skill sets and become a more confident player.”
Ballarat Miners Women’s Committee Chair Lynly Doherty said “We are excited to add Steph to the line-up Herbie has put together this season. Steph’s experience will add another layer of depth that we haven't had in the past.”
Gorman will suit up for the Miners this weekend when they travel to Geelong for their round 7 clash before having the long-weekend off.
The Miner women will also receive the added boost with the return of Jade Melbourne after her stint with the Australian Opals where she played in all three friendlies against Japan.
