The final piece of the Hawks puzzle has fallen in to place with Sydney Uni Flames guard Funda Nakkasoglu signing with the Ringwood Hawks for the 2021 NBL1 South season.

The Hawks culture, style of play and recent performances attracted Nakkasoglu to Ringwood and her expectations are to contend for a championship in 2021.

“The team environment alongside the competitive teams that Ringwood consistently seem to produce every season is what I like about Ringwood” Nakkasoglu said.

Joining the likes of fellow WNBL players Toni Farnworth, Marena Whittle and Demi Skinner, Nakkasoglu’s skillset adds another option to the Hawks who are looking to get back to the finals in 2021.

“To initially make finals and then ultimately compete for the championship” is what is driving expectations for the Hawks Nakkasoglu said.

Nakkasoglu is well known for her ability to shoot the ball and has enjoyed great on court success over the past few years. Apart from WNBL, it has been quite a ride for Nakkasoglu who turned heads with an outstanding College career at the University of Florida, one of the Countries top division 1 basketball schools.

Nakkasoglu joins returning team captain Danni Bone, Demi Skinner, Toni Farnworth, Jacqui Trotto, Hope Terdich, Kate Spillane, Marena Whittle and Hajnal Nagy as the announced signings for the upcoming 2021 NBL1 South season and with round 1 at Eltham tomorrow night, the Hawks are ready for NBL1 basketball to be back after a long and almost never-ending pre-season due to the cancellation of NBL1 South in 2020.
