WOMEN

The East Perth Eagles produced another standout all-round performance led by Jasmin Fejo at both ends of the floor and Brooke Malone with 24 points and six rebounds to stay undefeated with the 85-80 win against the Warwick Senators.

The Eagles arrived at Warwick Stadium to take on the Senators with both teams putting their undefeated records on the line with new East Perth coach Jonelle Morley and captain Stacey Barr returning to their former home floor where they won a championship in 2022.

The Senators were able to build a 12-point lead in the second quarter but the Eagles fired back with a 12-0 run and then built their own 13-point advantage by early in the fourth quarter on the way to the eventual five-point win.

The Eagles are now just one of three teams left undefeated in the women's competition for 2026 with Brooke Malone having an especially big third quarter on her way to 24 points, six rebounds and three assists with 6/11 shooting from three-point land.

Jasmin Fejo has been tremendous to start her career with the Eagles and had another 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals to go with a tremendous defensive performance on Chloe Forster.

Stacey Barr returned to her old home court with 18 points, five assists and three rebounds.

Jade Williams played her best NBL1 game with 11 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals while Sydney Wright scored 10 points.

Jayda Clark had 30 points, eight rebounds, five blocked shots and two assists for the Senators with Forster ending up with 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

The two undefeated teams played out a defensive grind of a first quarter with Jayda Clark's 10 points helping the Senators to the 19-15 lead by quarter-time despite shooting just 35 per cent from the floor opposed to the 33 from East Perth.

But seven offensive rebounds to two in favour of the Senators helped them get up an extra five shots and to take the narrow lead.

Clark added another eight points to go into half-time with 18 points for Warwick with 3/4 three-point shooting, but the Senators worked on top with 20 points to 15 in the second term for the 35-34 advantage at the break.

Former Senators championship star and captain Stacey Barr was warming nicely on her former home floor with 14 points and 3/6 shooting from deep even if both teams only combined to shoot 9/34 from behind the arc – and 3/24 if you take out Clark and Barr.

Brooke Malone was then the one that inspired the Senators to take over the game in the third quarter and build a lead as large as 12 points before still leading by nine at three quarter-time.

Things still got tight in the fourth period and when Clark hit her fourth three-pointer of the night, the Senators were back within six with 2:30 to play.

Kyana Weir scored soon after to make it a five-point game and then Clark nailed a fifth triple and the margin was four with a minute to go but ultimately the Senators couldn’t make that one more shot to get it to a one possession game and Jasmin Fejo sealed the win at the line for East Perth.

MEN

It took until the fourth quarter for the East Perth Eagles to fully shake off the Warwick Senators but Perth Wildcats NBL pair Lat Mayen and David Okwera combined for 51 points and 24 rebounds as they prevailed 94-75 at Warwick Stadium.

The Eagles were looking to build on the momentum from the previous week's win at home to the Mandurah Magic with Jonah Antonio back into the line-up after missing that win while on Australian Gangurrus 3x3 duties.

It was his first time in the Eagles line-up alongside both fellow NBL26 players Mayen and Okwera, but halfway through the second quarter and it was the Senators leading 38-23.

But from there the Eagles took over and would go on an 18-2 run leading into half-time, and stretching that to 27-5 either side of the break. Then with a 28-13 fourth quarter, ran away with the 94-75 win to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Wildcats pair Okwera and Mayen were outstanding with the former finishing with 26 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and two assists, and the latter with 25 points, 13 rebounds and two assists.

Max Rice also chimed in with 17 points, five assists and three steals with 4/7 three-point shooting while fresh off playing for the Gangurrus last week, Antonio returned with nine points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks.

Bing Huang also provided seven points, Ioannis Dimakopoulos four points, Nick Filpo three points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals, and Kai Kabugua three points with an and-one finish.

Marshawn Blackmon finished with 26 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists and three steals while Billy McRae had 20 points and four boards on 8/11 shooting.

The Senators might have been missing a whole string of their key players, but that didn’t stop them making a flying start on their home floor including going on an 11-0 run in the first quarter to be leading 32-17 by quarter-time.

That was on the back of a combined 24 points from Billy McRae and Marshawn Blackmon as they shot 67 per cent as a team and limited the Eagles to going 37 per cent including 2/10 from behind the arc.

The Senators were then still leading 38-23 halfway through the second quarter but then the game underwent a dramatic turnaround with the Eagles going on an 18-2 run leading into half-time to suddenly be leading 41-40.

Perth Wildcats pair David Okwera and Lat Mayen had combined for 25 of their team's 41 points while they got to the foul line 12 times to just the three occasions from Warwick.

The run continued for East Perth going into the second half and after two and-a-half minutes, either side of half-time the run was 27-5 as they turned a 15-point deficit into a seven-point lead of their own.

The Senators still remained in touch and 12 more points to Blackmon in the third quarter to give him 26 for the game to that point meant the Eagles were clinging to the four-point lead by three quarter-time.

But it was all East Perth in the fourth quarter as their depth shone through as the longer the game went, the more Warwick were missing their outs more and more.

The Eagles outscored them 28 to 13 in the fourth term as a result on the way including 15 fast break points as they ran them off their feet for the 19-point victory.
