The Kilsyth Cobras edged past the Nunawading Spectres 72-67 on Sunday at Kilsyth Sports Centre, securing a hard-fought win in front of their home crowd.
The Cobras dominated the glass, pulling down 50 rebounds to Nunawading's 43, with Khadim Sy producing a monster double-double of 17 points and 18 boards. Corey Jeffs led all Kilsyth scorers with 20 points while shooting 46 percent from the field and adding 10 rebounds of his own. Adrian Tomada orchestrated the offence with eight assists despite six turnovers, while the Cobras built their largest lead to 17 points during the contest.
For Nunawading, Tristan Devers put on an impressive shooting display with a game-high 25 points on 45 percent shooting, while Christian D'Angelo added 21 points. Brian Mack II crashed the boards with 12 rebounds (six offensive) but struggled from the field, going just 3-of-11. The Spectres couldn't find their range from outside, hitting only five triples on 29 attempts for a chilly 17 percent from beyond the arc.
