The move signals a new era for the Chargers, providing an energised and intimate venue designed to enhance the game day atmosphere while strengthening the club’s connection to the Tasmanian community.
The partnership brings together two established Hobart institutions, aligned by a shared commitment to excellence, opportunity and community engagement.
Chargers Chair Dean Young said the shift to Hutchins will create a genuine home court advantage for members and supporters.
“We’re really excited about what this means for our fans. Hutchins gives us a fantastic venue to create a loud, close-to-the-action game day atmosphere and a place our members can truly call home. It’s important to us that we continue to be part of the community, and this partnership helps us deliver a great experience while staying connected to the people who support us week in, week out.”
The Hutchins School Director of Sport Jason Berry welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the benefits for students and the broader basketball community.
“We are delighted to partner with the Hobart Chargers and host NBL1 South basketball at the N J Edwards Hub. This collaboration strengthens sporting pathways for young Tasmanians and provides our students with the opportunity to see high-performance sport up close. We look forward to working together to create an exciting and professional game day environment that benefits players, families and the wider community.”
Men’s Head Coach Jarrod Weeks said he is looking forward to leading his group out at the new venue in 2026.
“I am genuinely excited about playing our home games at the N J Edwards Hub this season. It is a fantastic facility and a great environment for our players and supporters. I am proud of the partnership we are building and what it means for the basketball pathway in southern Tasmania. I cannot wait for our first home game to tip off and to see our group run out in front of our home crowd.”
