Castec Rural Pioneers Sign NCAA Standout Lucas Gordon for 2026 Season

The Mount Gambier Pioneers are pleased to announce the signing of American forward Lucas Gordon, who has committed to the Castec Rural Pioneers for the 2026 NBL1 South season.

Gordon joins the Pioneers following an outstanding collegiate career with the University of Redlands (NCAA Division III), where he developed into one of the most dominant forwards in the country.

In his senior season, Gordon averaged 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, while shooting an efficient 56 per cent from the field. He also contributed across the board with 36 steals and 31 blocks, underlining his impact on both ends of the floor.

His performances were recognised at a national level, earning D3hoops.com Region 10 Player of the Year honours, along with First Team All-Region selection, capping off a standout 2025–26 campaign.

Across his collegiate progression, Gordon showed consistent improvement year-on-year, culminating in a senior season where he recorded multiple double-doubles and ranked among the nation’s top rebounders, showcasing his presence in the paint and ability to impact winning.

Standing at 206cm (6’9”), Gordon brings size, versatility, and efficiency to the Pioneers frontcourt, with his ability to score inside, rebound at a high level, and defend multiple positions expected to translate strongly to the NBL1 South competition.

Men’s Head Coach Pete Godfrey believes Gordon’s all-around game will add an important dimension to the group.

“We are elated to have Lucas joining us. Our first four games have been an uphill battle with such an under-sized group. Lucas will provide much needed front court support and presence, and flexibility defensively too.'”

“Lucas is by all reports a mobile high IQ big man and has a decorated D3 All American  pedigree to draw on.” he added.

Gordon said he is excited to the opportunity to begin his professional career in Mount Gambier.

“I decided to join the Pioneers after I was given an opportunity I couldn’t pass up on. I am so excited to give everything for this team and win some games! So grateful and blessed for this amazing opportunity!”

With the 2026 NBL1 South season underway, the Castec Rural Pioneers continue to strengthen their roster as they build momentum, with Gordon set to add size and presence to the group as the season progresses.
