The Mount Gambier Pioneers are pleased to announce the signing of American guard Cameron Brown, who has committed to the Castec Rural Pioneers for the 2026 NBL1 South season.
Brown joins the Pioneers following a successful collegiate career at the University of Redlands (NCAA Division III), where he established himself as a reliable scorer, playmaker, and defender.
The 198cm guard enjoyed a strong senior campaign in 2025–26, averaging 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game across 28 starts. Throughout his college career, Brown demonstrated consistent growth, averaging 11.0 points per game during the 2023–24 season before overcoming injury adversity and returning to play a key role in Redlands' success during his final year.
Known for his versatility, Brown contributed across multiple facets of the game during his four collegiate seasons. Alongside his scoring ability, he consistently impacted games as a facilitator and defender, recording strong assist and steal numbers while earning a reputation as a dependable two-way guard.
Brown was part of a successful Redlands program that captured the SCIAC Tournament Championship in 2026 and the SCIAC Regular Season Co-Championship, adding valuable experience from a winning environment to the Pioneers roster.
His addition strengthens the Castec Rural Pioneers backcourt, bringing athleticism, defensive intensity, and another ball-handling option as the team continues its NBL1 South campaign.
Men's Head Coach Pete Godfrey said Brown's versatility and experience within a successful collegiate program make him an exciting addition to the group.
“At 6'6" and capable in 1, 2 and 3 spots, Cam's versatility certainly attracted us. His character attracted us even more. He's a team-first player, a willing passer, a high-IQ basketballer and, by all reports, an outstanding young man. We believe he'll fit seamlessly into our locker room and the community.”
Brown said he is looking forward to beginning the next chapter of his basketball journey in Mount Gambier.
“The Pioneers is a great organization, and I am excited for the opportunity to join the team. I look forward to contributing to the team's success, working hard both on and off the court, and helping us achieve our goal of making the playoffs. I'm eager to be part of a winning culture and make a positive impact however I can.”
With the 2026 NBL1 South season already underway, the Castec Rural Pioneers continue to strengthen their roster as they build towards the challenges ahead. Brown's arrival adds further depth to the squad as the team looks to build momentum throughout the remainder of the season.
