Bringing 3X3 Basketball to the Community

Basketball Ballarat and the Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the arrival of brand-new Trailer complete with a Basketball hoop and 3X3 court tiles thanks to funding from the Victorian Government.
Basketball Ballarat CEO Nev Ivey states “the trailer is part of the $5.2M funding provided for Stage 2 of Selkirk Stadium delivering Strength and Conditioning facilities, Learning/Function Space, outdoor 3X3 courts and now the 3X3 trailer”.
Juliana Addison, Member for Wendouree states “This new trailer, which was funded by the Andrews Labor Government, will provide Ballarat Basketball with more opportunities to take basketball to the community.”
Addison also states “3on3 Basketball is ranked amongst the most played recreational sports in the world and a key driver of participation amongst young people”.
3X3 became an Olympic Sport in 2017 and continues to grow, the Mayor of Ballarat, Councillor Des Hudson states “the ability for the trailer to reach communities who may not have Basketball facilities is terrific as are the benefits of active lifestyles”.
Basketball Ballarat already provides clinics and come & try sessions throughout the year and across the Municipality. The addition of this trailer will allow further community access to the Sport including events such as the Begonia Festival.
Also, the trailer will enable an additional court to be set up at Selkirk Stadium for 3X3 Basketball Tournaments and Events providing 4 outdoor courts in total. This along with the 12 indoor courts at Selkirk Stadium and the ever-popular Minerdome.
