Bendigo Braves Head Coach (Women) - 2025 & 2026

Bendigo Stadium (Red Energy Arena) is the home of the Bendigo Braves (Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams), the Bendigo Spirit (National Women’s Basketball League), the Bendigo Strikers (State Netball League) and the Phantoms Volleyball Club.

Our Stadium provides a state-of-the-art facility, including a 4000 seat show court arena, ten (10) basketball courts, licensed bistro and café bar, and premier function spaces for all events. The venue has 15,000 patrons per week.

The Bendigo Basketball Association is seeking expressions of interest from an experienced and enthusiastic coach who has the passion to be the Head Coach of the Bendigo Braves Senior Women’s team for the 2025 & 2026 seasons.

The Head Coach will lead the Senior women’s program to compete in the NBL1, Australia's premier winter basketball competition. The successful incumbent will work closely with our Big V, Youth League Head Coach and Program and will be required to work with the Bendigo Basketball Association Director of Coaches & Athlete Development and assist to introduce a style of play for the women’s side of the program from Juniors to Seniors.

In partnership with key stakeholders, your role is to deliver the strategic objectives of the Senior Women’s program, to make us a stronger, healthier, happier and a safer community through the passion of basketball.


Key accountabilities of the role include:

- Lead and develop a high performing Women’s basketball team within NBL1 South, creating an elite and enjoyable group culture and environment.
- Lead the recruitment, on-boarding and management of the playing group and support staff (assistant coaches and team manager/s).
- Complete the team’s strategic plan/ processes aligned to the Guidelines.
- Provide supervision, support and mentoring to all staff (paid and voluntary) to ensure each person fulfills their role to the best of their ability to achieve the club’s vision.
- The development and execution of the training plan (pre-season and in-season) for the team and the individuals.
- Assist in the development of the Bendigo Basketball Association Pathways and to ensure our programs align to identify and develop talented athlete.
- Understand and meet the financial budgets of the team’s administration throughout the season.
- Develop, nurture, and grow the links between the Bendigo Junior Braves development players, the Bendigo Braves senior program and be prepared to engage and work with the Bendigo Spirit when the opportunity presents.
- Engage with sponsors, media, local basketball community and other key stakeholders to foster a positive image of the Club.
- Communicate, empower, and live the team culture of the Bendigo Braves and Bendigo Basketball Association via inclusion of all, respect for one another and professionalism as the Head Coach.
- Provide regular updates, technical advice, player welfare, and reporting across all levels of the programs to the General Manager of Sport and the Bendigo Basketball Association. (including Braves, Junior Squad Development, players, and coaches).
- Be proficient in the use of Synergy Sports, FastScout and Fast Draw.
- Prepare and deliver Scouting reports to athletes for each game.

Key Selection criteria:
- NCAS Level 2 accreditation or similar
- A proven record coaching at the senior elite level and developing talent
- High level leadership, and strategic planning skills
- Exceptional administration, communication, and management skills Applicants are to include their curriculum vitae, and a cover letter.


This is a fixed term contract.
Commencing November 2024 for a period of two years (2 seasons).
A Police Check and Working with Children’s Check is required.
