A legacy reborn at the Lightning: Lehmann inks deal with Adelaide

Ahead of WNBL27, the Adelaide Lightning have announced the commitment of Sienna Lehmann as a Development Player.

The Lightning Academy product consolidated on a solid first season with West Adelaide in the 2025 NBL1 Central season, improving her field goal percentage (50.4) and recording career-highs in rebounds (5.1) and steals (1.4).

The 19-year-old Lehmann will meet some familiar faces at the Lightning, being teammates with Aspen Crase and Coco Hodges (a fellow West Adelaide Bearcat), who she played alongside at the U20 National Championships, helping South Australia Country take home the gold medal.

Having performed at NBL1 level, it was no surprise she demonstrated her potential at the 2026 Townsville Tip-Off, recording 18 points on 4-7 shooting with 3 steals and 1 block against Tasmania.

For the Lehmann family, this signing holds deep meaning with Sienna being the niece of Opals and Adelaide Lightning legend Rachael Sporn.

During the WNBL27 Season, Lehmann will wear her aunt's retired #14 jersey.

"Joining the Lightning through the Academy is a dream come true," Lehmann said.

"Taking part in the program gave me so much confidence and showed me a clear path to the next level, so earning this contract means everything to me.

"Having that deep family connection to the club makes it even more special.

"Wearing the #14 jersey and following in my aunt Rachael's footsteps is an absolute honour, and I can't wait to give it my all for South Australia."

Lehmann's first opportunity to rock the #14 jersey and continue Sporn's legacy will be against the Sydney Flames on Sunday, October 18 at Quaycentre.
