Eric has been involved with Basketball Ballarat for more than 30 years, as both player and coach. He first became part of the Ballarat Miners as an import player and ultimately choose to stay in Ballarat where he became a Ballarat Miner legend, holding records for most club games and points scored for Ballarat and second in the league for all time points.
Neville Ivey praised and congratulated Eric Hayes for his invaluable contribution to the program “I wish Eric all the best for the future and would like to acknowledge and congratulate him on the role he has played as both player and coach in getting the program be where it is today. “
Following his many years as a Ballarat Miner, Eric returned to the program as assistant coach for two years before taking over as the Head Coach of the Ballarat Miners in 2014 in which he led the men’s program for three seasons. In late 2017 Eric decided a change was in order and took over as the Head Coach of the Ballarat Rush in which he has been in this position for the past three seasons.
Basketball Ballarat would like to congratulate and thank Eric for his enormous contribution to the association over a long period of time and wish him all the best for the future, all though I’m sure we will continue to see him around in some capacity as he plans to enjoy his time supporting his children in the program.
