The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of Christian Jurlina for the 2024 NBL1 West season.

Christian is a seasoned professional who has played at the highest level of Australian basketball for the Sydney Kings and Cairns Taipans in the NBL. Last year Christian was instrumental to our success, often leading the second unit and facilitating the ball. An unselfish star, Christian does whatever it takes to help the team succeed.

Outside of his playing duties, Christian is employed as a Basketball Development Coordinator for the Wanneroo Basketball Association, where he coordinates visits to local schools and coaches our programs, holiday camps such as Aussie Hoops, Female Fundamentals and our 3x3 Tournament.

A leader on the court and in our community, it’s an honour to welcome Christian back to The Pack; and we look forward to seeing him in action for the 2024 NBL1 West season.

Men’s Head coach David Morrell had this to say about re-signing Christian:

“Christian was a guy we knew we needed back after our run last season. That starts with the professionalism and unselfishness he brings into the building every day for practice. He’s a guy that’s played at the NBL level and has averaged 25ppg at the NBL1 level only a couple years ago.

Christian is capable scorer but oftentimes sacrifices in order to help others and to facilitate team success. He started off slow last year making some of these adjustments, but by the end of the season and our playoff run he was as important as anybody else we had. He was guarding opposing teams’ best players, he was knocking down shots, he was playing some point guard, and he is a terrific playmaker. At 6’5 and being physically strong, he’s able to play point guard through the forward spot, and able to guard everyone too. That level of versatility on both ends of the floor is a massive asset for us and sets Christian up to be a very important contributor for us in 2024.

Christian had this to say about re-signing with the club:

“I’m absolutely honoured to be returning to the Wolves for this upcoming season. After just falling short in the grand final, I’m excited at the opportunity to have another crack at winning a championship as well as playing in front of the best fans in the league, if not the country. Our team this year is filled with talent and guys who play the right brand of basketball, and I can’t wait to step out on the court with them. I’m hoping my playmaking, defence, leadership and basketball IQ will compliment this roster and ultimately help the team succeed.”

Christian joins teammates CJ Turnage and Jordan Wellsteed for the Joondalup Wolves in the upcoming 2024 NBL1 West season!
