Andrew Gaze Re-Signs with Melbourne Tigers

NBL1 South

Melbourne Tigers have announced that Australian basketball icon Andrew Gaze will return as Head Coach of their NBL1 South Men’s program for the 2026 season.

Melbourne Tigers have announced that Australian basketball icon Andrew Gaze will return as Head Coach of their NBL1 South Men’s program for the 2026 season.

Gaze’s re-signing follows a landmark year for both the club and the man himself. In August 2025, he was elevated to Legend status in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame,  becoming the first Australian basketball player to receive the honour. Just weeks later, he guided the Tigers to their first-ever NBL1 South Men’s Grand Final appearance, in a season that also saw the club recognised as the 2025 NBL1 South Club of the Year.

The Tigers flourished under Gaze’s leadership, playing an exciting, high-paced brand of basketball that reconnected the community and reignited the passion of the red and yellow.

Forever tied to the Tigers through his extraordinary playing career under father Lindsay, Gaze has become the club’s most enduring figure. His influence continues to shape generations of players and fans, making his return to the sidelines in 2026 all the more significant.

The Tigers now look to build on their momentum and push for a championship in 2026 with Gaze once again at the helm.

The NBL1 South 2026 season tips off on Friday 27th March 2026. For all the latest updates, including player signings, coaching appointments and league news, make sure you’re following NBL1 South on Facebook and Instagram.
