The Ballarat Miners are excited to announce the signing of Jemma Amoore for the 2023 NBL1 South Season.

Amoore is a local who has played all her basketball with the Ballarat Miners having completed the junior pathway in 2022.

Although still 17, Amoore has played 9 games for the NBL1 Miners whilst still competing in the VJBL with the under-18 Miners as well as for the Youth Champ Women in the Big V in past seasons.

Ballarat Miners Women’s Head Coach Rob Baker is pleased to sign Amoore saying, “As a  homegrown junior, we are looking for Jemma to really embrace the backup point guard role and find her spot in a senior setting.”

Baker added, “Jemma is currently preparing for the U20 Victorian State team and has been working hard at individuals and training to really embrace the point guard position and playing this role at U20 Nationals will be perfect for her leading into 2023”.

Upon signing with the Miners Amoore said “I re-signed with the Ballarat Miners as it is a club that has helped me tremendously throughout my juniors and now preparing me as I enter senior basketball.”

Amoore added, “I have established many great relationships and it is very special being able to play with some of my closest friends that I have grown up with playing for Ballarat along with coaches that have been instrumental in my development since the beginning of my basketball journey.”

Ballarat Miners Elite Teams Committee Member Lynly Doherty said “Jemma is a dedicated and enthusiastic player and person. Coaches have always spoken very highly of her commitment to grow, learn and enjoy the game. We are excited to see what Jemma brings in 2023.”

Amoore will take a small break from the Miners when she will compete with the Victorian Navy team at the under-20 Australian Junior Championships, which are being held in Geelong, February 14-19, 2023.

Amoore joins the signing of Abbey Wehrung and Millie Cracknell for the 2023 season with more players to be announced before the NBL1 South season starts on April 1st, 2023. Memberships are now on sale via Miners Memberships
