2021 Country Champs a success for Ballarat Juniors

The Thrifty Ballarat Miners Rush Juniors competed in the Country Championships over the weekend with the Under-16 Division playing in Traralgon and Under-18 Division in Bendigo.

It was a successful weekend with the Under-18 Girls winning Division One and Under-16 Girls winning Division 2. 

Elite Team Administrator Glenn White was really pleased with how the junior teams conducted themselves. 

"We are very proud of all the Thrifty Ballarat Miners Rush Juniors who competed across the weekend in the Country Championships." White said.

A highlight was the Under-18 girls who took out the Division One Category in Bendigo.

"A fantastic effort by the Thrifty Ballarat Rush Junior Under-18 team who won the Division One Country Championships in Bendigo. This team has now won the Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and now the Under-18 grades which is a real credit to all the ongoing development of the Junior Elite Team program here in Ballarat." White said.

“Basketball Ballarat has had a huge focus on the development of juniors over a long period of time and to see this team achieve so much shows the success of the program coming into effect." White said.

There was another win for the girls program with the Under-16 team taking out the Division Two Championship in Traralgon.

"Our Under-16 Division Two Team played a great tournament in Traralgon and came out with a Championships win over Portland." White said.

Glenn White also thanked the contribution of the Basketball Ballarat Junior Community after such a disrupted 2020 and even recently in 2021 due to the pandemic.

"Thank you to all the Coaches, Families and Players for their support of the teams over the weekend especially under the circumstances with restrictions. We are looking forward to a successful year in the VJBL across all our grades." White said.
