Albury Wodonga Bandits
Men's Team
In 1984, the Wodonga Border Bulldogs first entered the South Eastern Basketball League (SEBL). The first games were played at Wodonga Sports & Leisure Centre, but the games were soon split between this venue and the newly constructed Albury Sports Stadium in 1985. The final game hosted at the Wodonga Sports & Leisure Centre was on 25th August 1985 as the team changed their name to the Albury/Wodonga Bandits in 1986 and relocated their home games to the Albury Sports Stadium.
In the first 17 years there was little finals success for the team. In 2001, under coach Leigh Gooding, and key players Allen McCowan, Matt Sheehan, Russell Hinder, Nick Grylewicz and Nick Payne the team took out the ABA East Conference Championship.
The next opportunity was in 2012 when the Bandits won the SEABL South Conference Title and went on to win the SEABL National Championship defeating the East Conference Champions, Dandenong Rangers.
In 2015, the Bandits team returned to the SEABL Grand Final after winning the East Conference Title, but lost in the National Championship game to the Mount Gambier Pioneers.
Brad Chalmers stepped down as coach at the end of the 2021 season to move interstate with his family after many years involved as player and coach. Haydn Kirkwood, who had been Brad's assistant coach, was appointed the Head Coach ahead of thd 2022 season.
The Club transferred from the the NBL1 South Conference to the NBL1 East Conference for the 2022 season.
Women's Team
The Albury/Wodonga Bandits first entered a women's team in to the SEABL in 2006. After missing the play-offs in their first three season, the Lady Bandits played finals for the first time in 2009. Club Patron and Basketball Legend, Lauren Jackson, coached the team during the 2019 season.
Lauren Jackson announced a comeback to the playing prior to the 2022 season with the Albury/Wodonga Bandits, which was covered nationally. Lauren's comeback saw sell out crowds at the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre during the season. The team finished the season on top of the ladder with Lauren leading the scoring with 33 ppg, backed up by Unique Thompson 30.4ppg and Ai Yamada 20ppg. The Lady Bandits made it to the NBL1 East Grand Final where they defeated Sutherland Sharks 85 to 72 to win the clubs first Women's Conference Title.
Youth League Teams
In 2019, the Bandits formed Youth League Teams (Under 23) for the first time with the support of the Albury and Wodonga Basketball Associations to provide a pathway for players in the region to play at a higher level. In the first year these teams competed in the NSW Warratah League and both teams made finals but lost in the first week.
In 2020, the teams were entered into the Big V Competitions, but due to COVID-19 the season was cancelled with the first games in this competition played in 2021.
Both teams made finals in the 2022 Big V Youth League season, but both lost their semi final games away from home.
